Netanyahu to Share Israel’s Strategy on Iran During Trump Meeting

(MENAFN) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Tuesday that he intends to outline Israel’s proposed framework for handling negotiations with Iran during an anticipated meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington.

Before leaving Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv for the United States, Netanyahu spoke to journalists and highlighted the strength of bilateral ties, describing Israel’s relationship with the US as “exceptional and unprecedented in our history.”

He indicated that while discussions with Trump would address developments in Gaza and broader regional matters, the central focus would be the ongoing diplomatic track between Washington and Tehran.

“I will present to the president our vision for the principles of the negotiations,” Netanyahu said.

He further argued that Israel’s stance is grounded in “important principles not only for Israel, but for everyone seeking peace and security in the Middle East.”

According to reports, Netanyahu departed for Washington on Tuesday afternoon for what was characterized as an urgent meeting with the American president. The trip is expected to be brief, spanning three days, with his return to Israel scheduled for Thursday.

This upcoming encounter will mark the seventh meeting between Trump and Netanyahu since the beginning of the US president’s second term early last year. Reports indicate that five of those meetings took place in the United States, while one was held in Israel.

Israeli media previously reported that Netanyahu had originally arranged to travel to Washington on Feb. 18, but decided to advance the visit by a week in an apparent bid to shape the direction of discussions between the US and Iran.
