Trump Hints at Possible US Action Over Iran Protest Violence

(MENAFN) U.S. President Donald Trump issued a warning on Friday, stating that the United States would intervene if Iranian authorities open fire on demonstrators and cause deaths.

He emphasized that Washington is fully prepared to act should peaceful protesters be targeted with lethal force.

Posting on his Truth Social account, Trump claimed that if Iran resorts to what he described as its usual practice of violently suppressing demonstrations, the United States would step in to protect those affected.

He added that the country is “locked and loaded,” underscoring a readiness to respond immediately.

Meanwhile, reports from a semi-official Iranian outlet, along with the human rights organization Hengaw, confirmed that clashes between protesters and security personnel had resulted in deaths.

According to these sources, two individuals were killed in the southwestern city of Lordegan, while The news agency reported three fatalities in Azna and one additional death in Kuhdasht.

The news outlet further stated, citing an unnamed local authority, that more than 150 people assembled in the Lordegan region of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province. The gathering reportedly involved chants against the government, with demonstrators also hurling stones at public facilities.
