Azerbaijan praises growing cooperation with Iran
Aliyev highlighted that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s recent visits to Azerbaijan, along with a series of reciprocal high-level exchanges, have revitalized cooperation between the neighboring countries. He expressed “satisfaction with the recent intensification of our relations” and told the Iranian delegation that their bilateral agenda is both broad and concrete.
The Azerbaijani president emphasized that the two countries now maintain an expanded agenda across multiple sectors, with the intergovernmental commission functioning “very successfully.” He cited progress in trade, transport, and energy, and expressed optimism that the Iranian delegation’s visit would be “successful and productive.”
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi conveyed Pezeshkian’s greetings and underscored that strengthening relations with Azerbaijan is a priority for the Iranian leadership. The two sides also discussed regional issues and matters of mutual interest.
Araghchi arrived in Baku on Sunday and is scheduled to meet Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. Pezeshkian has visited Azerbaijan twice this year, first in April for an official state visit to Baku, and again in July for the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Khankendi.
